Some notes on airmail covers

During 1999 dozens, if not hundreds, of 'philatelic covers' appeared, mostly airmail envelopes,
many with the handstamp date 29 December 1999.
It was obvious to anyone completely ignorant of Kurdish script that the addresses were written by the same hand,
and that many of the envelopes had the same address written on them.
Let's just say that it was, and still is, obvious that these covers were prepared for collectors.
Many had the same senders details on the back of the envelopes, with an oval handstamp of Salahadin PO.

Some notes on the following covers.
In 2003 there were no official post office vehicles and letters were carried by bus or lorry or UN vehicle travelling to the destination post office.
At the time, the telephone number of the recipient had to be written with the address so that the post office could inform the recipient of the letter's arrival.
The following plain covers have the address written in both English and Kurdish script, and they did actually travel from Erbil to Dohuk in a UN vehicle in 2003.
The Erbil cancellation dates are 13th or 15th July 2001 because the Erbil PO canceller could not advance beyond the year 2001.
The Dohuk arrival handstamp dated 16 July is on the front of all the covers.
As usual, ERBIL, or ARBIL, cancellation was incorrectly shown on the handstamp canceller as ARAIL
